EYFS: Learning through play for 0-5 year olds
I aim to provide quality learning opportunities which support and extend each individual child's social and intellectual development. All our learning occurs through play activities and is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for children aged between 0 and 5 years which is also used in Pre-Schools and Reception classes. I provide, plan and resource for a balance of adult andchild-initiated activities.
There are seven areas of learning and development that must shape
educational programmes in early years settings.
Three areas are particularly important for building a foundation for igniting
children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. I focus heavily on these
three Prime Areas of Learning:
Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Children need a secure basis in these three Prime Areas so that
they can go on to learn effectively in the Specific Areas of Learning:
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding of the World
Expressive Arts and Design
All of my activities are planned to stimulate children's individual interests and to help
them develop effective characteristics of learning which will aid them in becoming
life-long learners. I aim to provide opportunities to support children to be engaged,
motivated to learn and enjoy their achievements.
